Steve Harris

This is only going to be a short blog but will be dedicated to the god who is known as Steve Harris. I am sorry if some of my information is wrong but I will try to get it as accurate as possible.

Steve Harris is the bassist for the heavy metal band Iron maiden he is the owner of the band and he writes most of their material. He is founding member of Iron Maiden and also one of the original members along with Dave Murray.

He is self taught and he only uses two fingers and made up the galloping bass line, although some people think he uses 3 fingers. His bass lines are some what complicated for the average bassist.

If anyone else likes Steve Harris then please get involved.

Hi again

I am just letting people know that the main reasons that I am here is to make friends and to spread the joy of bass playing. I wish more people would pick up this instrument and really have a go. I think that the bass guitar is really under rated and not many people even give it a slight thought.

As I have said in my previous post that I only started playing bass because of our bass player in our band leaving, I wish this wasn’t the case and I wish that I picked up the bass myself and not because of someone else but I can’t argue as I would have never thought of trying bass. I do know that I won’t be returning to guitar. The reason being is that everyone who is anyone wants to learn to play the guitar and I wish to be different and start a statement of my own.

I am not the best bassist out there or nor will I be. In fact I don’t want to be really, I just want to play the music I love with the people I know. Music can get a wide range of different people together and also bring people closer.

Anyway again this is a website I have found and I wish to here from people. I am a really nice person once you get to know me.

My slap bass attempt

Slap bass is new to me as a bass player and as I have only been playing the bass for about two month now I have decided to give this new technique a try.

I have heard a countless number of funk bands play this style even thought I was unaware the style was called slapping and popping they all seem to play it with ease, but is this really the case. Do you think it took them years to master or just weeks? As I have never tried slap bass I can honestly say I have no idea how long it will take me to get this slapping down, all I do know is that I am not going to give up until I have figured out how it is done.

I am not sure how many different ways there are to slap but like everything I am going to find the easiest for me and keep at it.

I am going to give my sell 2 month at practicing everyday and set my self a goal. My goal will be to have the technique to a reasonable standard at the end of this time period. I am going to continue using the site how to play bass and try their method on slap bass, successful or not.

With one of my favorite bands being Red Hot Chili Peppers I will be influenced widely by their bassist who is named Flea. A lot of their stuff is slap style or so I am told. As I am new to bass playing I wasn’t aware that the band actually used slapping.

Learning to play the bass guitar

Some people may be put off with learning a new instrument or even the idea of picking an instrument up at all but I assure you this isn’t the case with this website that I have come across. The website looks like it is new but with what I have read so far I am pleased with. The lessons that are provided seem to be at no cost so there is really no reason why you shouldn’t have a look on the site.

I forgot to mention I am a bassist in a band and as I am a beginner to bass playing I find my self getting stuck with what to do next and also what to learn, but now I don’t really need to worry as the complete bass basics have been explained for me. I used to play the guitar but because our bass player in my band dropped out I had to replace him. I used to think that bass was an easy instrument. Boy was I wrong. I feel that because the frets on the bass are much bigger I find myself struggling at times to fret the strings but I am not sure why this is as of yet.

Anyway this was just a short post showing people of a new site that I have found about playing the bass guitar. I got the address from a friend but I am unsure if this website is listed in Google or not so just use the link below to get there.

Tinnitus at How To Play Bass

Hey guys I am aloud to post a little paragraph from how to play bass to teach people about tinnitus. I have gained permission to be able to post this. Having tinnitus my self I know how important it is to teach other people about the condition. People who haven't got tinnitus may be thinking whatever but I will tell you I wish I had listed when someone told me about it.

Hearing loss and Musicians

Now as a bass player or even a musician in general you should consider wearing ear plugs to protect your ears from the loud noises of gigging and even practicing because if you don't in later life or even soon you may develop tinnitus. If you wish to have a music career or have a music based life style it is essential that you understand the effect of hearing loss and what effect this has on musicians.
